The retail giants in Australia have recently launched a range of really affordable school shoes and the country’s mums have had their say on the products.
ALDI and Kmart have both introduced their budget shoe collections for students, but which of the two retailers is the best?
In the coming weeks, parents will rush to the stores to purchase brand new shoes for their children in preparation for the school year.
As part of the grocery chain’s special shopping event, the selection of boys’ and girls’ school shoes found at ALDI start at just $14.99 a pair and will be available in stores starting January 13. The collection can be found in stores at Kmart, on the other hand, and prices start at $15.
Now, mums from Australia have flocked to Facebook to share their thoughts on the shoes, and it seems there’s one brand that’s more popular than the rest.
The shoes sold at ALDI have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers, with many of those customers claiming the shoes are superior to more expensive options.

ALDI reviews
On the Aldi Mums Facebook page, one customer said: “I bought [ALDI school shoes] last year and they have lasted the longest and my son says they are the most comfortable shoes and I am buying Colorado and Clarks shoes. I am.”

Another customer said: “I’ve shopped at Clarks and Crosby all my life, but ALDI is head and shoulders above them all.” A third commented, “I find that $15 girls’ black leather school shoes are better for me than $120 from Athlete’s Foot.”
Another example is as follows: “My son had them last year and they lasted all year. “My daughter had Colorado and they didn’t last the first semester.” Velcro School Shoes are available from ALDI for $14.99.
Another statement was released, which read: “I have purchased them at ALDI for two years in a row and get $14.99 for boys and girls.”
I always make sure to buy two pairs of shoes for each of my children as they tend to wear out their shoes after the fourth term, but these are fantastic. Before, I always bought Grosby and Clarks, but now I find them to be just as wonderful. Others praised the sneakers for their year-round durability.

Kmart reviews
Kmart customers had somewhat mixed feelings about the retail giant’s selection of school shoes. Some people have felt that they provide a great return on their investment.
One commenter on the Kmart Hacks & Decor page commented, “My kid had these shoes last year and they lasted him all Kindergarten.”
Another: “These were the sneakers my kid wore for the first three years of school before he decided he wanted Nikes.” I never had a problem with them. He never had any trouble. Mary Jane style school shoes for $15 at Kmart.
Since he goes through an average of three pairs of shoes per semester, we only buy him inexpensive shoes from retailers like Big W and Kmart. I have spent more money on them, but they don’t seem to last much longer.
According to him, the ones that are cheaper are the most pleasant ones. “You shouldn’t put any pressure on yourself to get the most expensive ones.” Others, however, were more pessimistic, stating that they had been disappointed by previous interactions.
“I’m not interested in it at all. The cheaper option will last my children about three terms, while the more expensive option will last about six weeks. “It depends on how active they are,” said one.
“No,” wrote another. Both of these are lies. If they make it past the first two weeks, they’re lucky! Climbing athlete’s foot is the best option I’ve found that all four of my kids will eventually grow into. However, we have some spares that we bought at Kmart.

A third commented, “It seems like every time we buy shoes from Kmart or Big W, they only last one semester.” What you pay for is what you get. We decided to spend a significant amount on a pair of high quality shoes and they served us well for at least three sessions.
“In the past, I have purchased items like this. Another person wrote that they don’t last very long. Invest the extra money Some moms were adamant that buying school shoes was worth the extra expense.

Another friend of mine said, “As for shoes, I think it’s great to invest a little more and get the right shoes.”
“For the simple reason that foot health is essential to good posture. You’ll also find that at the end of the year, you’ve spent more money on shoes that are only good for the short term.

A third opined, “I’d invest money in school shoes fitted by a professional.” They wear these clothes four days out of seven days of the week. According to the advice of our podiatrist, they should not bend in half. However, not everyone was convinced.
“Okay, let me say this. Another mom shared that her kids went through elementary school in shoes they bought at Kmart. Their feet look healthy to me.
Since we always had to buy my son a new pair of shoes, we even gave him a chance to try on some “better” shoes.
We used to spend $20 per semester, but it went up to $80 per semester. The so-called “better” shoes did not hold up better over time.
